UI Newly Approved Grading System & GES Courses Details – 2017

The University of Ibadan (UI) Senate, in respect the school meeting held on 18th July, 2016 has approved the New Grading System and Minimum Units to be registered for and passed by students at each level and as well, Change in the status of GES courses.
The University’s changes and details are as follows;
1. The average minimum units taken at each Level should be 40 units.
2. The minimum units to be passed at each Level by students in order to proceed to the next Level should be 60% of 40 units.
3. All GES courses, with the exception of the “Use of English I & II (GES 101 and 201)”, should be made to acquire the status of REQUIRED COURSES.
4. The 4-Point Scale Grading System should be adopted in order to align with other universities world-wide and the recommendation of the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The above implies that the recommended Average Minimum Units expected of the students to take/register for is now 40 units (for the new intakes: 100 Level) as against the old 30 units. Given this development, the regulations guiding withdrawal of students in the University in respect of the new system are as follows:

FuLafia Postgraduate School Set to Begin Academic Activities & New PG Programmes – 2017

The Federal University Lafia (FULafia) school of postgraduate studies is now set to begin academic activities for the 2016/2017 academic session.
The FULafia postgraduate programmes are 14 in number, which are situated in eight departments of the university’s three faculties of science, social sciences and arts.
Speaking on the development, the Dean, Postgraduate School, Prof. Sam Obadiah Smah, said facilities for were provided for conducive teaching and learning of students.

JAMB 2017: You Can’t Select 2 Public Universities During Registration

The Joint Admission Matriculation Board [JAMB] in a bid to highlight the major pr-registration tips to candidates has disclosed that there is no more room for candidates to select two public university during online registration starting from 2017.
But If a candidate wishes to select a public University as their degree awarding choice, then they are only allowed to select a private University as another choice.

JAMB explains Why Candidates Can’t Apply For 2 Public Universities

Remember that yesterday, we made an update regarding JAMB new policy which limits candidates from being able to choose 2 public universities. Incase you also missed the 2017 JAMB pre-registration tips also posted, feel free to check out the full details. Well, there is something new. The board has thrown more light to the reason it came up with the “Not more than two public Universities” policy; and this is the reason.
The new update was revealed by JAMB via its official twitter handle @JambHQ on Friday.
It reads: “candidates can select NCE as their choice up to three times I.e 1st choice, 2nd choice and 3rd choice.
“But they are not allowed to select two public universities as choices. If candidates select a public university as their degree awarding choices, they are allowed to select a private university as another choice.”

JAMB Guarantees That 2017 UTME Exams Will Hold In May

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, on Thursday reaffirmed that the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) exams will hold in May.
He also disclosed that five persons have been sentenced to various prison terms for selling fake forms to candidates.
Oloyede, who spoke at the 2017 Nigerian Academy of Letters Annual Lecture explained that there was delay in the sales of the forms due to logistics.
He said the board would begin sales of forms once the board had finished sanitizing the system.
He also said; “We have observed that people are selling fake forms but what we are doing is to try to sanitize the system and as soon as the sanitization is done we will start selling the forms.

UMYU Announces Application into English Immersion Programme – 2016/2017

The General public are now informed that the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU), Katsina State, Nigeria have announced the introduction of its one session intensive English Language Immersion Programme for candidates from non-English speaking and other countries as from the 2016/2017 academic year.
The Programme is aimed at providing a solid grounding for non-English speakers and other members of the non-English speaking public wishing to improve on their knowledge of English in order to facilitate their contact and interaction with Anglophone environment for academic, business and other purposes.
Eligibility for the Programme
The Programme is open to holders of the baccalaureate certificate in the Francophone education system or its equivalents in other education systems. However, candidates with lower qualifications but with appreciable knowledge of English and capable of benefiting from the Immersion Programme are eligible for admission into the English Language Immersion Programme
Duration of Programme
The English Immersion Programme of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University will run for one session of seven months divided into two semesters.

Each semester will terminate with an end-of-semester examination, which will be preceded by continuous assessment exercises. All participants will be issued Attestation of Attendance while students successful in the examinations will be issued certificate indicating the level of their performance.

JAMB Finally Releases Date For Sales of 2017 UTME Forms

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has confirmed that the forms for the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be on sale within two weeks.
Oloyede said; “The examination will be coming up later than usual. This is to make sure we take into consideration the interest of the students. We are going to conduct the UTME in May. It will not clash with any SSCE examinations.
He also said the new timing of the UTME was to check any form of malpractice, especially upgrading of results.

NABTEB Releases Nov/Dec (Private) 2016 Examination Results – Check Yours Now!

This is to inform all students who took part in the The National Business Technical and Examination Board (NABTEB) Nov/Dec 2016 (Private) Examination that the examination results has been released and is now available online.
According to reports, a total of 1, 394 out of the 45,974 candidates who sat for the Nov/Dec 2016 NABTEB-organised examinations were caught over examination malpractice.
Also, out of  21, 476 candidates about 53 percent, who sat for NBC and NTC examinations scored five credits and above, with English Language and Mathematics.
The Registrar of NABTEB in Edo, Mrs Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe, gave the figure on Tuesday while announcing the release of the results.
The registrar said that modalities put in place by the board to curtail examination malpractice were still intact to reduce the proportion.
She therefore urged state governors to set up technical and vocational education training centres to empower the youth.
Candidates are to proceed to the official web site of the Board to check their results.

FUO Matriculates 2,430 New Intakes For 2016/2017 Academic Session

The Federal University, Otuoke, (FUO) Bayelsa State, matriculated a total number of 2,430 students for 2016/2017 academic session at the 6th matriculation ceremony which was held on Saturday, .
The VC Prof. Seth Jaja, who spoke on the matriculation ceremony said the admissions were based on merits and in line with standards set by the Federal Ministry of Education, National Universities Commission (NUC), Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the institution’s Senate.
He said the university only ran 12 academic programmes, which he said limited the number of prospective students offered admission into the institution.
He also said the first challenge he faced when he assumed office on February 2016, was how to bridge this gap needed more in faculties like Engineering, Management Science and Education, which were hitherto not available.

Verify your payment by entering the RRR number writing on the invoice issued to you by the bank.

JAMB 2017 exam to hold in May 2017

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have announced that the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will hold in May 2017.
This was made known by the JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, through the Board’s Twitter handle @jambhq
According to him, actual dates will be announced soon. He also advised candidates to beware of false dates and fraudsters.
“2017 UTME is scheduled to hold in May 2017. Actual dates will be announced soon. Beware of false dates and fraudsters,” he said.
Meanwhile, JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede has explained why an unusual delay has preceded the sales of application forms.

MAPOLY Matriculates 2,850 Students For 2016/2017 Session
