2017 WAEC registration May Suffer Delay In This State – Read Why

The economic re­cession may have affected the 2017 May/June West African Examination Council (WAEC) registration in Ebonyi State.

Investigations by The AUTHORITY revealed that even as WAEC said deadline for registration of candidates for the examination remains Janu­ary 15 2017, many potential candidates are yet to register, most of them on account of lack of funds to register for the examination.

Many of the students and parents explained that the deadline of Janu­ary 15, a few days after the Christmas, was unrealistic to most of the parents.

The students are paying N15,000 as registration fees for the Senior School Certificate Examination(SSCE).

Worried on the deadline for the registration, school principals and parents have called for extension of the exercise to enable students register for the examina­tion.

At the Government Technical College (GTC) Abakaliki, only six out of 128 students registered for the examination.

Also, only 33 out of the 101 SS3 students of Nnodo Secondary School, Abakaliki have registered while 15 out of the 88 students SS3 students of Overcomers Secondary School, Ozibo Abakaliki registered for the examination.

When the AUTHOR­ITY visited Model Girls Comprehensive College, Ugwuachara in Ebonyi Local Government Area of the state, 45 out of the 85 SS3 students registered.
