LAUTECH VC Begs Lecturers To Resume Work – Must Read

Prof. Adeniyi Gbadegesin, the Vice-Chancellor, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, on Monday appealed to the striking lecturers of the institution to return to work.

KANO Approves Additional Hostel For NYSC Camp

The Kano State Government has approved the construction of an additional hostel at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Karaye.

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje announced this today when the Director-General, Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Kano.

He said he had since directed the Ministry of Works to produce a design for the new hostel.

Dr. Ganduje also announced the state government’s decision to take over the payment of Corps members’ local allowances from Local Government Councils.

The Governor explained that the present economic challenges in the country accounts for the inability of the local councils to cope with the payment.

He averred that Kano remained one of the safest states in the north, adding that his administration was working with security agencies to make the state even safer for Corps members.

JAMB Suspends Websites With “JAMB” attached to their Domain Names

This was disclosed by one of the owners of the affected sites.

According to him, he received a mail from his web host concerning the development.

The mail reads, “We got a complaint from JAMB through National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) on a number of domain names that are defrauding Nigerians using different variant of their name (JAMB), your website was listed among them, and we were instructed to investigate and suspend all the domain names involved”.

3 arrested for selling ‘fake’ JAMB forms In Ekiti State

Officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested three persons suspected to be selling fake Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital.
They were arrested at Adebayo and Secretariat Road with counterfeit JAMB forms, cell phones and laptops.

UNILAG International School Admission Form Is Now On Available – 2017/2018

ASUU Bans UNILORIN From Academic & Non-Academic Activities – Read Why

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has directed its members nationwide to boycott all academic and allied activities at the University of Ilorin.
This was part of the resolutions reached at the end of its Awka National Executive Council meeting, a copy of the sanctions which was made available to newsmen in Ibadan by the Chairman University of Ibadan Chapter of the union, Dr Deji Omole.

ASUU wielded the big stick following what it called University of Ilorin administration persistent acts of lawless, arbitrariness, violation of human and trade union rights and persecution of loyal members.
Also, University of Ilorin academic staff will also not be allowed to carry out any academic activity on any public universities in Nigeria.

ASUU noted that despite efforts at resolving the crisis in the institution, the university management and its sponsored groups were fuelling the crisis while alleging that it forcefully deduct check-off dues without remitting it to the national body.

ASUU NEC resolved to impose sanctions on the groups and university administration, noting that for the duration of the sanctions, academic Staff of the University of Ilorin would no longer enjoy the cooperation, collaboration or participation of academics of other Nigerian public Universities, in the following areas of academic and related activities at all

JAMB Explains Reasons CCTV Cameras Are Needed For 2017 UTME

Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, has emphasized on the reason the board will be using Closed Circuit Television Cameras for the conduct of 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

According to him, this is a part of the measures aimed at preventing examination malpractice during the UTME.

UNICAL Pre-Degree Admission Requirements

Pre-degree Science

Credit-level passes at not more than two (2) sittings in (WAEC/NECO/GCE O/L, NABTECH) English Language, Chemistry, Biology/Agric. Science, Mathematics and one Science/Social Science subjects and at least a pass in Physics. Students  admitted into the Pre-degree Programme with a credit in Agriculture and/or pass in Physics will ONLY be sent to the Faculty of Agriculture at successful completion of the programme.

Successful candidates who sit for and obtain a credit in Physics within the programme year and submit their result before the placement exercise could be placed in any of the departments in the Faculty of Engineering, Biological Science, Physical Science or Education.

Applicants awaiting results may also apply. Such applications shall only be considered on receipt of the pending results within the period allowed for such consideration.

JAMB result of 2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17 can be used.

ASU gets Accreditation for 10 new courses

Vice -Chancellor, Lagos State University, Ojo, Prof. Lanre Fagboun, has announced that the university will soon add Pharmacy and nine other courses to its list of programmes.

He made this known on Monday, 9th January 2016, during a briefing to commemorate his one year anniversary in office.

According to him, the additional programmes include Administration and Leadership Programme, Tourism and Hotel Management, among others, he added that the new programmes would help in solving the challenges of unemployment.
